Bestwalks is the most comprehensive resource on the internet for books on walking throughout the UK and visitor numbers are growing at a steady rate - currently around 1,400 visitors [30,000 hits] per DAY - see latest visitor statistics.  What started as a small site to promote my own books on walking has grown into something much more. In particular it offers various other walking related information including a 'PLACES TO STAY' guide comprising hotels, bed and breakfast, self-catering and other accommodation specifically aimed at walkers looking to stay in the most popular walking areas.

If you have not already done so, please visit the home page by clicking on this link  www.bestwalks.com  to obtain an overview of the site. Here you will see on the right hand side a panel devoted to ACCOMMODATION. Click on the link for Hotels - B and B - Self Catering -Camping to obtain the menu page from where you can select the location and type of accommodation required. There is also a direct link from individual county/area  books pages to the corresponding accommodation page, e.g. www.bestwalks.com/dartmoorbooks.htm has a link to www.bestwalks.com/staydartmoor_sd.htm
 
The cost of a standard advertisement is £25 pa to include the following features:-
 
  • Description, telephone contact and charges [latter omitted if required]
  • Thumbnail colour photograph which can be clicked to show the full size version
  • Hyperlink to your own website or page on a tourist information site. This will contain a tracking code which will enable us to monitor the number of click-throughs from the advert to your website.
     
    Additional features can be added such as a link to Bing Maps location plan (small additional cost applies) and page on Trip Advisor or similar site (free).

For the slightly higher cost of £40 per annum a 'Premier advert' will guarantee placement above all other types of advert on the appropriate page and will include an enhanced description, 2 photos, company logo if required plus an eye-catching design. See example below. Again, the number of click-throughs will be monitored. Listings will be in order of receipt but, where there are sufficient premier adverts on a page, they will be rotated on a monthly basis.

The key benefits of advertising on Bestwalks are :-
 
  1. It is far cheaper than most other media, yet still gets results because it is highly targeted towards people who visit those areas featured for a specific purpose, i.e. walking. Furthermore, those establishments located in one of the featured areas and who are also on or near a National Trail will get an advertisement in each section for no additional charge - 2 ads for the price of 1.
     
  2. Bestwalks has a high Search Engine ranking for walking related keywords. As an example, search on Google UK for 'walking powys' and Bestwalks is No 6 on a list of about 138,000*. The accommodation pages themselves are also showing high in the rankings - if you search for 'b and b snowdonia' on Google then Bestwalks is No 3 on a list of 117,000.*
