Jersey War Walks: Exploring the Fortified Isle, Ian Ronayne.  Published June 12.

ISBN: 9781906641443 - Jersey War Walks

Walking on Jersey, Paddy Dillon - Famous for its sunshine, history and wonderful coastline, Jersey is an intriguing destination for travellers. Outwardly British but with French overtones, it is a compact island often busy with visitors - who have a lot to fit in if they want to experience everything the island has to offer. This guide uses good paths and tracks as well as quiet country roads, avoiding main roads wherever possible. Gradients are often gentle, but there are some rugged cliff paths and occasional steep slopes. Walking is generally easy, though short walks can be joined together to create longer challenges. The walks explore the island's excellent cliff coastline and rocky and sandy beaches and even though they are generally small walks there is so much to see and discover on the island that they can take longer to complete. The walks take in plenty of interesting historical sites as well as formidable castles and churches. There are also many museums and visitor attractions to visit along the way.  Published April 11.

Walking on Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm - Paddy Dillon - Located closer to France than to Britain, Guernsey has always been an intriguing destination for travellers. British visitors feel like they're at home and abroad at the same time, whereas French visitors tend to see life on Guernsey as a distinctly British experience. This guide offers short, easy walks that take in plenty of interesting features, such as prehistoric sites, castles and churches, as well as museums and visitor attractions. Good paths and tracks are used, along with quiet country roads. Rugged cliff paths and occasional steep slopes represent the only difference in difficulty. The entire coastline of the island can be explored day after day, and short walks can be combined to make longer journeys. As well as information on Guernsey the guide also includes exploration of the smaller islands of Alderney, Sark and Herm.  Published March 11.  K

Jersey Jaunts, John Le Dain. Published May 07. Jersey Car Tours and Walks, Geoff Daniel - Jersey has a coastline with its share of steep paths and endless steps. Away from the coast, however, there is slightly more variety in the landscape, and walking is relaxed and easy, mainly along quiet lanes and country paths. Geoff Daniel has the happy knack of finding sights and places to stir the imagination - from the Pinnacle (one-time scene of pagan rituals) to the eerie towering concrete relics of the island's occupation by Germany during World War II. The 2 car tours are accompanied by a touring map; the 22 long and short walks are illustrated with large-scale (1:25,000) Ordnance Survey maps. Plan of St Helier, public transport timetables, and a unique free online update service for the latest route-change information.  Published July 10.

ISBN: 9781856913911 - Jersey

Sark Strolls, Jan Guy - A beautifully illustrated guide to walking on Sark, that most magical island. Sark Strolls gives eleven walks, illustrated with stunning photographs and detailed maps. Buy a copy before you visit Sark and get out your walking shoes! Limited availability.  Published 2011.
The Channel Island Way, Arthur Lamy - Perry's The Channel Island Way is an exciting new 110 mile pan-Channel Island walking guide that brings together all the best coastal walks in Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. Published by Channel Island map specialists Coast Media, with words by Blue Badge Guide Arthur Lamy, the new guide covers all five islands in careful detail and is packed with useful information about points of interest and local history, public transport, toilet facilities and places where walkers can find food and refreshment. Each 'walk' comprises a Perry's map section, easy to follow instructions and imagery by renowned Channel Island photographer, Chris George. The Channel Islands Way Guide has been put together in partnership with the Tourism authorities in the five islands and is the first resource of its kind to unite all the islands as a single fabulous walking destination. The Channel Islands Way is designed for walking enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. The routes around the bigger islands have been broken down into convenient sections that can be walked comfortably in the space of a morning or afternoon. However, this should not stop more ambitious walkers from linking several sections together or simply choosing their own start and finish points. With a bit of island hopping by boat and plane, walkers can use the guide as the key to exploring the entire range of walking environments the archipelago has to offer. The guide is pocket sized (dimensions are 190m high x 110mm wide) and is 96 pages long. Limited availability. Published 2011. Jersey Rambles: Coast and Country, John Le Dain - This text describes the routes and points of interest of 28 walks, from easy 20-minute strolls to longer, more demanding rambles. Aspects of the Jersey landscape are included, from the rugged north coast to the gentler charms of the island's well-wooded, south-sloping valleys. The walk is intended for those who want to see and experience Jersey beyond its car parks, beaches and more obvious tourist attractions. The pen and ink drawings combine with the author's descriptive passages and maps to provide a practical guide to walking the island's footpaths.   Limited availability. Published March 05.

Guernsey, with Alderney, Sark and Herm, Geoff Daniel - Pocket-sized and in full colour, this guide describes a car tour around Guernsey's coast (with accompanying fold-out touring map) and days out on the nearby islands of Alderney, Sark and Herm. But the major part of the book is devoted to 11 walks on Guernsey and one each on the other three islands, all illustrated with OS maps (1:25,000) - a boon, since these maps are no longer in print. An ideal introduction for the first-time visitor, the book also provides new ideas for those who come year after year. Apart from marvellous coastal scenery that's been compared to that of Cornwall and Brittany, there is much to explore of the island's past. For example, you could follow some of Guernsey's 'green lanes' and 'water lanes' - centuries-old paths once used by pack-horses and donkeys, or follow a route that takes in the relics of prehistoric burial grounds as well as remnants of the German Occupation during World War II. Guernsey's coastline provides challenging cliff paths with steep climbs and lots of steps. Elsewhere the walking is very easy, since the terrain is almost level. Limited availability. Published March 08.
