Best Walks in the Midlands - Des Wright This is the 4th collection of walks by Des Wright (see below for others), an author with a passionate interest in the countryside and its wildlife. Each of the 20 walks has been designed with a specific focus - such as an unusual or notable building, a unique pub, a church with a fine spire, a folly, a natural object or an impressive view. The walks are not difficult and within the capabilities of the average walker. Some are quire short and others have shorter options so will appeal to those with young families or who are taking their first steps in exploring the 'great outdoors'. The distances range from 3½ to 12 miles. Most can be accessed by public transport and details of suitable services are provided.

Walks Around the Malverns - Roy Woodcock The Malvern Hills and their surroundings provide magnificent opportunities for rambling, and in this book of twenty walks Roy Woodcock explored many of their superb features. The walks cover the entire range of hills and the neighbouring commons, together with some of the delightful countryside nearby. Distances range from two miles to eight miles, plus a leg stretcher of between ten and sixteen miles (depending on the starting point) that takes in the full length of the ridge and ascends all the Malvern peaks.

Heart of England Hill Walks - John NewsonThe eighteen circular walks in this collection explore a variety of hills in the Heart of England - some well known, others that may be less familiar. They include the high open moorlands of Staffordshire, some of the more remote hills of Shropshire, parts of the ever-popular Cotswolds, the counties of Hereford & Worcester and Warwickshire including, naturally, the magnificent Malverns, as well as some more modest, but very scenic hilltops. The distances of the main walks vary from 10.5 miles to 14.5 miles. However, most include the option of a shorter walk and these range between 6 and 10 miles.
Heritage Discovery Walks in the Midlands - Peter GrovesBritain has a rich historical heritage and the 21 walks in this book explore some fine Midlands countryside and also present opportunities to visit castles, battlefields, nature reserves, museums, churches and cathedrals, to admire fine architecture and to explore some historic towns. There are some excellent pubs, many with interesting histories. They are all circular and accessible by public transport. The shortest is 2.5 miles and the longest 11.25 miles.
And The Road Below - John Westley The entrancing account of the first complete walk around the coastline of the British Isles, a distance of 9,469 miles, that earned the author a place in the Guinness Book of Records. Undertaken in aid of multiple sclerosis this book shows how a relatively inexperienced walker could, with courage and an over-riding determination to succeed, overcome what seemed at times to be near insurmountable problems. The author has donated half of his royalties from the sale of this book to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and this sum will be matched by an equal contribution from the Publishers.
