HOW TO GET MORE VISITORS TO YOUR WEBSITE
By Roger Seedhouse

Having gone through the process of starting from a point of complete scepticism to promoting a successful web site I think I can claim to have gained a very good knowledge of how to get noticed on the world wide web. This doesn't happen automatically or by chance; there are a number of important steps which need to be understood and followed in order to make your presence felt, otherwise you will be simply shouting down a black hole. For many, particularly those just starting out with little or no experience, this is a daunting prospect. Finding their way around what is often contradictory advice and all the gobbledegook relating to Search Engine rankings, hyperlinks, HTML, reciprocal links and a host of other things is a challenge which they have neither the time nor inclination to undertake. Consequently, what is potentially a profitable working tool becomes a dismal failure.
MORE VISITORS = MORE BUSINESS
A simple equation but how do you make it work? Designing and publishing a website is less than half the battle. You must be prepared to promote, promote and promote some more to grab attention and put your site higher up the pecking order. This guide cuts through the mystique surrounding Search Engines and presents the basic facts in a comprehensible form, thereby putting you in a better position to use them for your benefit. My target audience is not experienced webmasters, who probably know more than I do, but private individuals and small businesses which already have a website/page (or are contemplating setting one up) and need some guidance to turn it into an effective part of their marketing strategy. I look at numerous small business sites every day - every day I work that is - and, believe me, the number I come across which are completely devoid of any idea about Search Engine optimisation are legion, even some of those that have been professionally produced. There is a lot of stuff out there on the web to help site owners but much of it is couched in terms which only those with at least a modicum of knowledge will be able to grasp. In contrast, this guide starts from scratch and takes you through the maze one understandable step at a time.
The topics covered in the guide are as follows:
The different types of Search Engine and how they work
Which Search Engines to concentrate on and basic submission procedures
How Search Engines rank sites
How to optimise your site to gain the best possible ranking
What Search Engines like and what they don't
The importance of HTML Meta Tags (not an HTML tutorial!)
Domain names
The increasing importance of links in determining ranking
Google Pagerank

"I must say I found your book on 'How to get more
visitors to your website' very useful and in a language I can understand! Thank
you." JP Devon.
"It's pitched well at reluctant web administrators
but you've put plenty of meat in there for anyone who wants to take it a bit
further. I've had no hesitation recommending it to clients" KA Shropshire.
"Your book has really thrown a spanner in our works. The language I have used after I have seen the detriment our site's current design is causing, has not made my mother turn in her grave, but spin." KW Scotland
.............the
book’s good by the way, it’s pulled all the stuff I’ve been reading into a
workable programme.
