Why 'The Hand'?
The Ceiriog Valley is known as ‘The Valley of the Poets’, such is the influence of this evocative, secret landscape on generations of poets and artists. Llanarmon D.C. is at the heart of the Upper Ceiriog: the most remote, most beautiful part of the valley, set against the backdrop of the brooding Berwyn Mountains. This is wonderful walking country, with stunning views at every turn, and you can walk for miles and not see another soul: so different from many of the more well-known walking areas. If you insist on a change of scene though, both Snowdonia and the wonderful Shropshire countryside are not far away.

The Hand at Llanarmon, a centuries old inn is very much a centre of village life, embracing local people and travellers alike, with roaring log fires in winter and a terrace garden for warmer days. It is everything a classic British inn should be; genuinely warm, filled with humour and buzz, providing excellent home-cooked food with a minimum of fuss and formality. All our rooms are en-suite, comfortable, well-equipped and maintained to the highest standards.
Bed and Breakfast from £40 pppn. Mid-week and weekend specials.

Pear Tree Cottage, Bed and Breakfast on the Oswestry Wales border

Crickheath, Oswestry
Pear Tree Cottage was built at the same time as the Montgomery Canal (circa 1795) which runs along the bottom of the garden and was originally a pub called, according to local legend, The Blank Window Inn. It is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful unspoilt Welsh Border countryside, including Offa's Dyke footpath which can be joined on Llanymynech Hill about a mile away.
You will enjoy a warm friendly atmosphere with a traditional breakfast of local produce in comfortable surroundings set amidst a beautiful garden full of wild birds. A choice of two comfortable en-suite and tastefully decorated bedrooms is available, one double, one twin.
Let yourself unwind from the stresses of daily life in this peaceful and tranquil location.
Bed and Breakfast £27.50 pppn. Special offers. Sorry, no children or pets.

Situated close to the home of Clive of India* (hence the name) in the heart of South Shropshire's beautiful countryside. The area is blessed with a wealth of varied landscapes and places to visit, making it ideal for short breaks or a longer stay.
Originally a farmhouse, it now presents a unique blend of traditional and contemporary, the main building having been developed so as to retain the original features of the Clive Bar alongside the more minimal approach in the restaurant 'areas'.
All 15 bedrooms are situated in period outbuildings that have been tastefully converted to provide contemporary styled accommodation with en suite facilities. The Clive Restaurant is renowned for superb modern British cuisine and has been awarded two AA rosettes as well as entries in the Good Food Guide and the Michelin Guide. Emphasis is on the use of fresh produce ranging from local meats, smoked products and vegetables to fresh Cornish fish. The 'Clive Arms' Bar with adjoining Courtyard provides a comfortable non smoking area to enjoy local traditional ales, a wide range of wine by the glass and light snacks.

Bed and Breakfast from £37.50 pppn. Family rooms/suites. Disabled rooms and facilities. Special Offers. Children welcome.
